Spring Applied Clutches

A spring applied clutch (also known as a power-off clutch) engages when the power is OFF. It features zero-slip tooth engagement, for reliable transfer of torque with no power engagement necessary. This type of clutch is ideal for applications requiring:

  • Emergency engagement.
  • Fail-safe systems.
  • Static holding.

Please inquire with our team directly to learn more about these clutches.

SETC Series

SETC Series

These spring-applied tooth clutches feature a compact design with positive engagement. They are ideal for both oil and dry operations. Unlike other options, SETC series clutches have bearings that are permanently lubricated and sealed, which eliminates the need for grease fittings.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SECC Series

SECC Series

This spring-applied tooth clutch coupling variant integrates a SETC clutch with a factory-aligned output hub and sleeve for an unparalleled prefabricated solution. The SECC design significantly reduces installation time and is best suited for in-line shaft coupling applications in tight, confined spaces.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

SEPAC also offers Spring Applied Friction Clutches that are capable of dynamic engagement. We maintain a comprehensive archive of designs, and our skilled team has a long history of successfully fabricating these components. Note that these clutches are highly specialized and are not available as a standard product. Contact us for more information.

Magnetically Applied Clutches

Magnetically applied clutches (also known as power-on clutches) engage and transfer torque when the power is ON. This allows for a controlled, smooth transmission between shafts. This type of clutch is an optimal choice for dynamic applications requiring:

  • Frequent engagement and disengagement.
  • Precise timing.
  • Rotational control.

Product Series:

SFDC Series

SFDC Series

A stationary field multi-disc tooth clutch is best suited for compact, high-torque systems and is available for wet or dry operation. The bearings for this style of clutch are permanently lubricated and sealed, making grease fitting obsolete.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
RFDC Series

RFDC Series

Rugged friction clutches are best suited for applications where repeatability and reliability are needed.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
RFTC Series

RFTC Series

A rotating field tooth clutch can perform in both oil and dry conditions. The robust field-mountable clutch does not use bearings and has internal grounding.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SFTC Series

SFTC Series

Stationary field tooth clutches can operate in both oil and dry environments. They can be tailor-made to a wide variety of torque ratings, and the bearings are permanently lubricated and sealed, which eliminates the need for maintenance and grease fittings.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
STCC Series

STCC Series

Stationary field tooth clutch couplings connect a shaft to a high torque load. Integrating SFTC clutches with a properly aligned output hub and sleeve creates a prefabricated solution that can simplify the overall application design.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
WMTC Series

WMTC Series

Wall-mounted tooth clutches are best suited for stationary field designs with space constraints and fixed-position installations. They perform similarly to SFTC Series clutches but without bearings. This is optimal for high-speed applications (i.e., above 3600 RPM).

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Tooth Clutches

Tooth clutches provide no-slip, positive torque transfer by engaging the interlocking teeth. They are an ideal solution for restraining motion in these applications:

  • Load locking.
  • Precision actuation.
  • Static holding.

These spring-applied tooth clutches are available in eight standard frame sizes and are compatible with oil or dry applications. Customized assemblies and modified designs are available.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SECC Series

SECC Series

In this compact coupling, when the current is off, springs press down on the armature, engaging with an output plate and hub to transfer torque.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
RFTC Series

RFTC Series

The magnetic rotating field tooth clutch features a rugged housing for both oil and dry conditions within a maximum speed range of 2500 to 8000 RPM.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SFTC Series

SFTC Series

The custom-torque magnetic tooth clutch is available in various diameters, lengths, and bore sizes.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
STCC Series

STCC Series

The shaft-coupling clutch provides high-load transfer with a static torque from 160 to 5200 lb.-ft.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
WMTC Series

WMTC Series

The wall-mount clutch features tooth engagement to transmit torque, with built-in grounding capabilities.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Friction Clutches

Friction clutches engage through surface contact, making them a perfect solution for the dynamic transfer of torque in applications requiring:

  • Controlled acceleration.
  • Slip control.
  • Smooth engagement.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What Is an Electromagnetic Clutch?

An electromagnetic clutch transmits torque mechanically through its face teeth or friction. Electromagnetic force can be generated with an energized coil, a motor, or another type of prime mover to transfer torque to a driven element through a coupled shaft or pulley to a load.

While electromagnetic brakes maintain or stop rotational movement, an electromagnetic clutch connects or disconnects two shafts. Clutches effectively control the torque transfer from one shaft to another (i.e., split in-line shafts or parallel shafts).

SEPAC specializes in engineering, designing, and manufacturing a variety of top-quality electromagnetic clutches.

Applications for Electromagnetic Clutches

SEPAC clutches are used in many different systems and industrial applications where uptime and optimal performance matter, such as:

  • Aerospace actuation systems.
  • Defense drones and ground vehicles.
  • Industrial automation and robotics.
  • Medical imaging systems and robotic surgical instruments.
  • Oil and gas valve actuators and controls.
  • Renewable energy equipment.

Why Choose SEPAC?

At SEPAC, our USA-made electromagnetic clutches are designed, machined, and tested in-house. We have extensive OEM expertise across a broad range of regulated industries and offer comprehensive custom-engineered solutions and modification services to suit unique applications.

In addition to custom designs, we carry many standard clutch products with zero-backlash and high-torque options for dynamic and static use. Our long-life clutch assemblies require minimal maintenance for less downtime.
